Grow Yourself

Grow Yourself is a project designed to promote mental well-being through visual communication rather than verbal expression, while integrating sustainability. It encourages users to stay productive and plan ahead in a stress-free environment that prioritizes both mental health and eco-conscious practices. Both a website was created to go along with an initiative proposed to the Otter Student Union at CSU-Monterey Bay.

Call to Action

The first challenge was to thoroughly define the problem and create a viable solution within the given timeframe. Additionally, the project’s scope was unclear. We were not sure whether it would serve solely as a content platform or evolve into a fully functional website where students could access mental health resources and request products.

The client wished for a product that supports mental health among college students. The core question was how to visually represent mental well-being progress while ensuring the solution remained environmentally sustainable.

Our solution was to design a website with a clean, modern layout that effectively organizes content while maintaining a consistent structure. The site is optimized for responsiveness across all devices, ensuring a seamless experience that attracts both new and returning users.

Grow Yourself ensures that students with varying needs have the opportunity to access therapeutic gardening and horticultural information, and are actively encouraged to use gardening as part of managing their personal health and wellness.

final thoughts

This project encompassed multiple components, including a website, physical products, and in-person event collaborations. Managing each element presented its own challenges, but the end result was something to be proud of. Especially as it promoted both mental health and gardening. The project required a blend of graphic design, web design, project management, communcation/relationship skills, and product design to bring the vision to life.
